The brief
Built to exacting standards, a Charlcombe home is a very special, individual one. This development in Northend, on the edge of Bath, required a traditional approach to the architectural design to fit with the picturesque village location.
The goal with the interiors was to compliment this traditional feel and create an elegant canvas to which new owners could eventually add their own stamp. So this meant choosing traditional, slightly more rustic materials in a palette of neutral shades that would bring both warmth and style to the spaces, as well as being long-lasting and durable for family life.
The result
For the 24 bathrooms we sourced a cream-coloured Egyptian limestone with subtle tonal variation which was paired with underfloor heating for warm, inviting spaces. This stone was also specially cut to size and transported for the hearths of the sitting rooms’ woodburning stoves to complete a cohesive design scheme.
The ground floor and first floor landing of each house used an engineered brushed oak laid in traditional plank format for a timeless yet robust surface. It was finished with a zero VOC oil that is very hard wearing.
Tile & Floor sourced, supplied and installed 800 sqm of engineered oak, 500 sqm of limestone tiling and 1200 sqm of carpet and coir matting across the group of houses. A range of Kerakoll grout and adhesive products were used which, as well as being green, are also very reliable.
