The house
On a quiet private road in Bath’s Larkhall, this pretty terrace looks across the valley to Solsbury Hill and is a picturesque stroll to Kelly-Ann’s shop, The Bath Framer. The cottage was in need of modernisation when Kelly bought it, and over three years she has breathed new life into it.
The brief
Kelly-Ann knew that she wanted a light herringbone wood floor for her kitchen scheme, as well as wide boards for her bathroom. Working with Tom Weaver, our specialist in wood flooring, together they studied a range of samples and finishes to achieve the look and longevity Kelly-Ann wanted.
For the kitchen, she ultimately chose an engineered herringbone oak with an invisible lacquered finish over a piped underfloor heating system to be fitted by her own builder. For the bathroom, a distressed wide engineered oak board.

The result
Kelly-Ann’s kitchen marries functionality with style and homeliness. With Shaker & May cabinets, painted in Little Greene’s Obsidian Green, topped with white granite and fitted with aged brass fittings, the contrast with the natural-toned wood floor in this timeless format is striking.
Skylights and large crittall doors to the garden fill the space with light which bounces off the floor for a warm, spacious feel. Invisible lacquer doesn’t affect the natural look of the wood but is the toughest finish for a high traffic area where spillages can easily happen.
Her bathroom, in the same colour as the kitchen, with newly painted oak boards and a roll-top bath is a haven of tranquillity in which to unwind after a long day.
